March 7th is iPad 3 day!

Official invitations have been set out for March 7th at the Art Center in San Francisico. Bring on the iPad rumors.

iPad 3 rumor roundup

Improved screen resolution
The rumors about the iPad 3 display are nearly unequivocal about a substantial improvement to screen resolution. In fact, the only sport left in this rumor is trying to figure out which supplier will provide the anticipated display. The resolution most often cited is QXGA, or 2,048x1,536 pixels--essentially doubling the iPad's existing resolution. The result would be an improved realism for games, videos, photos, and e-books.

Better camera
The front and rear cameras on the iPad 2 are decent. And let's remember, they're a heck of a lot better than the cameras on the original iPad, which were nonexistent.
With the camera on the iPhone 4S, it's clear that Apple considers image quality an important feature of a mobile device. With any luck, we'll see the front-facing camera bumped up to HD quality (improving FaceTime video chat quality) and a rear camera that comes closer to iPhone quality.

Faster processor
Both the iPad 2 and iPhone 46 already feature Apple's A5 processor. So what's next? The A6, of course. Improved graphics, speed, and efficiency are the expected benefits of the A6. Graphics performance in particular will need a bump for the iPad 3 to handle all the extra pixels afforded by the improved screen.
Will the A6 be a quad-core chip? There's good reason to question that, especially with Apple's emphasis on battery life. Will it make the original iPad feel like molasses? Without a doubt.

4G data
Will the iPad 3 be Apple's first 4G-compatible device? It seems likely. Apple has always offered versions of the iPad with cellular data support (priced $130 over their Wi-Fi-only siblings). With the iPad 2, Apple extended its tablet family to include iPads for both AT&T and Verizon. With both networks placing so much emphasis on their 4G data capabilities, it seems only natural that Apple would finally branch out and embrace their technology.
Siri

Now that iPhone 4S owners have exhausted the novelty of Apple's Siri voice assistant, it seems only natural for that feature to trickle down to the iPad 3.

What's not changing?
None of the above predictions is earth-shattering. In fact, to brace yourself for further disappointment, let's run through the inventory of what isn't likely to change.
Apple's 9.7-inch screen size isn't going anywhere. Neither is its 4:3 aspect ratio. The entire app catalog is designed around these measurements and Apple clearly hasn't been suffering for it.
The iPad isn't likely to get any cheaper. Yes, the competition has shown that there's room for a low-cost tablet like the Kindle Fire, but going low-end has never been Apple's strategy. Besides, Apple still dominates the tablet market and needn't change what's been working. Sure, the company may make a separate, smaller product, offer the iPad 2 hardware at a discount, or beef up the iPod Touch with a bigger screen, but the iPad 3 described above is unlikely to cost less than $499.
The iPad 3's design is also not likely to be radically different. In the year since the iPad 2 has been on the market, only one tablet (the Asus Eee Pad Transformer Prime) has been able to match the iPad's design in both thinness and use of premium materials. Let Samsung and Sony flail around with daring new tablet designs. If Apple can maintain the design it has while introducing an industry-defining screen technology--that's enough.

Final thoughts
It's tough not to run wild with iPad 3 rumors and speculation, but the most likely scenario we'll see from Apple is an incrementally improved device that will stun users (and disrupt an industry) with a unique high-resolution display.

Shadow Gun iPad Game review.

Shadow Gun is a 3rd person action shooter.  The big claim to fame for this game is its graphics and it will not let you down.  Lets talk about how the rest of it holds up.

 

Story:
The story for Shadow Gun is some what forgettable.  You are a mercenary that is hired to stop and take something from an evil scientist.  Now there are some choices that you can make in the game but I can’t figure out how it changes the story or gamplay at all.

Game Play:
Shadow Gun plays quite well for a third person shooter on the iPad.  It has been heavily influenced by a little game call “Gears of War”.  The protagonist feels heavy and life like when controlling him.  I will say this is one of the best 3rd/1st person controlled games I have played on the iPad.  There are a few short falls like there is no mealy so i recommend not getting to close to the enemy.  Also even though it is easy to get into cover sometimes it feels like  you stick a little to much.

Graphics and Sound:
If you have heard anything about this game it most likely is about how the graphics looks like console graphics.  I do have to agree with this.  The more I play they more i am amazed what they were able to pull off in the game.  Your eyes will not grow tiered of looking at this game.  This is the game that I keep to show my gaming friends why you should buy an iPad and not some other handheld gaming system.  Now they just released a copy of this game for the new Asus Transformer Prime the first quad-core tablet.  They have thrown in some new effects like realistic water and it does not pretty nice.  But you will not be disappointed by the iPad version.

Lasting Appeal:
The game is pretty short I would say there is about 4 to 5 hours of gameplay but they have just released a patch that included some new missions that should extend the game for another couple hours.  So if they keep this up it will be well worth the price.  Now we are just waiting for some multi-player action.

Final Thoughts:
I believe I have said this before but i don't finish many games on the ipad but this is one that I kept picking up till i finished.  But all said and done with the ho-hum story and action getting kind of repetitive I always wanted more.  This is a recommend in my book.

Is Puzzlejuice the ultimate puzzle game?

Puzzlejuice is like having multiple puzzle games at once.  You are playing something like Tetris, Bubble Buster, and Word Search at the same time.  This is one puzzle game that will keep you on your toes.

Game Play:There are two game modes Core and Zen.  In core mode the blocks come at you in steady  stream and you have to keep clearing blocks to make room for more.  Earn multiplier for getting larger words or taking out more blocks.  There are special blocks that when you take out the blocks around them it activates them they do more damage like explosions or drills..  There is a Zen mode but to me this is far from that.  The zen part I guess is that the blocks do not come down automatically.  The un-zen part is that there is a time limit of 90 seconds.  The game can be broken down to 3 play styles first you play with blocks that interconnect like Tetris that when you compete a line instead of disappearing they turn into letter blocks.  Second is the colors when you get 3 of the same you can click on them and pop in the letters.  Finally you have the letters, you play these like a Word Search and finally can remove the boxes.  You do get points for each of the types of plays.


Graphics and Sound:There is not much to say about the Graphics there are blocks and colors.  They are very simplistic and make things easy to see and know what you are suppose to do.  I do like the old school look of the menus and game.  But if someone looks over your shoulder at you playing this game they will not be impressed by it’s  looks.  The sound is great techno music that matches the game play perfectly.  I really enjoyed putting on my headphones and listing as I played.


Lasting Appeal:Like most of the puzzle games the fun lasting appeal of the game is to get your highest score and showing your friends.  This game does include Gamecenter so this makes it easy to share and compare your score.  You also have the option to tweet your score but no Facebook.  There are 2 difficulty levels Hard Mode and Euro Extreme Mode.


Final Thoughts:If you are a puzzle fan all I can say is get this game.  At $1.99 you will thank me.
