Mass Effect Infiltrator iPad app game Review

Mass Effect Infiltrator for iOS has been launched along side Mass Effect 3 on Mass Effect Infiltrator (1) the consoles.  This game is a shooter but missing much of what made Mass Effect 3 special.

Story:

The story in Mass Effect Infiltrator follows Randall Enzo a Cerberus agent. The game does not really add much to the Mass Effect world but it is enough to get you through the game.

Game Play:

Mass Effect Infiltrator (3) This game boils down to being a 3rd person action shooter that is best played behind cover.  Control was one of my biggest problems with this game.  Moving Randall is like expected but when it comes to shooting you have to select who to shoot at by touching the enemy.  You can then adjust your aim to get that headshot.  I find it hard to move from person to person when there are more then one enemy on screen.  Also moving from cover is done by swiping and this can be unresponsive and frustrating.  Gone is Mass Effect’s ability to order other players and an in-depth roll playing game.

Graphics and Sound:

Presentation is where this game shines.  From the first time you hear the  Mass Effect InfiltratorMass Effect music to the stunning visuals you will be happy to be experiencing more Mass Effect.  The graphics on this game are top notch for the iOS.  The score sounds very Mass Effect and I love it.  This is yet another game to show off your iOS power to make some 3DS and possible Vita fans jealous.

Lasting Appeal:

Mass Effect Infiltrator (2) Mass Effect Infiltrator does not have multiplayer but does try to keep you playing by rewards and upgrades.  Randall and his weapons are upgradeable by using the in game currency.  You can buy new weapons & upgrade the ones you have also buy new bio mods.  These don't seem to change the game much but are fun as your progress.  The game handles currency for upgrades by earning them by getting stylish kills and completing the level by a certain time.  This works ok but I find it not much fun getting stylish kills.  There are 30 levels and about 6 hours of game play.

Final Thoughts:

There are better 3rd person action game on iOS.  But if you are not getting enough with Mass Effect 3 and need a fix from the road this game will help.  I would recommend this game for ME fans.  For others maybe try Shadow Gun.
