I have never played World of Goo before but this is a wonderful way to be introduced into this zany world. World of Goo is a puzzle game you take control of cute little Goo Balls that works wonderfully on the iPad.
Story:
World of Goo pretty much lacks any real kind of story. But the atmosphere and cute little Goo guys draws you in as much as if there was one. All you need to know is you will need to control your little Goo Ball buddies to make it through a level to the exit pipe.
Game Play:
You control your gooey little buddies by dragging them off their web construction. That little Ball now becomes part of the sticky web to get you a little closer to your goal. You will need to use the different
types of Goo Balls that have different characteristics to complete the ever more difficult levels. The game really is easy to play but hard to master. Get your web construction close enough to the escape pipe for your goo to escape.Graphics and Sound:
Lasting Appeal:
There are 48 levels to play through in the story mode. This mode I have not finished yet but I have been reading it will take between 6 to 8 hours to finish, so no small feat. But there are no multi player or any kind of specially designed level to try for highest score. But there is a level that you use all the extra Goo balls you have collect to build the highest structure you can. The best thing about this level is that it downloads all the heights of levels close to yours so you can really challenge yourself to build it taller.
Final Thoughts:
This is a fantastic puzzle style game that is my kind of game. At $4.99 this game is a bit higher then I would normally pay for a game. Plus they have not added any levels via an upgrade to add more value like many games in the genera. But if these things don't scare you away you will be in for a treat that could just spark your imagination.
Update:
They have just launched World of Goo for the iPad and they have made is so if you bought it for the iPad you get it for no charge on iPhone or iPod.
